In most cases people don’t need to spend tons of money on custom cabinets. Standard cabinets generally come in 3” size intervals and in most cases a kitchen can be built to accommodate this 3” requirement. Using standard cabinets saves thousands of dollars while getting the same custom look.
The qualities wanted in cabinets are:
- real wood frames and doors
- you don't want particle board
- full extension drawer glides with slow motion self closing hinges and glides
- drawer boxes that have dovetail joinery
- not finish nails or staples
